More than 150 CFC leaders representing CFC and all its Family Ministries from all across the Greater Toronto Area gathered last Saturday, Oct 23, at Quiapo Quiapo in Scarborough to plan and setup directions for year 2011. It was a joyous occasion as the participants reflected on the many blessings and miracles that happened to our community over the preceding 9 months of 2010. Leaders marveled at what has been accomplished so far but all agree that so much more needs to be done. In 2011, Couples for Christ will usher in a major milestone in the life of our community as we celebrate our 30th year anniversary.
Bro. Jun Clarito, Regional Head for Ontario and Quebec , opened the session with a short exultation centered around our theme for 2011, “Put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11).” He emphasized that as we recover from the major storms that has hit our community in recent years, we must continue to be vigilant and on guard against the evil one. Bro. Jun added that as CFC members we are always in constant battle against the enemy who uses every means to distract us from what God wants us to accomplish. As such, by putting on the full armor of God, we will be able to stand against the scheme of the devil. He highlighted the fact that in CFC “there are no non-combatants.”
Bro. Dax Magsisi, GTA Area Head, followed with an update on the various accomplishments. He focused on our evangelization efforts and the need to expand and to put more diligence in these efforts as there are many more parishes and areas that we need to conquer.
Bro. Temi Pangilinan, COO of ANCOP, gave leaders an update on the various developments in our “work with the poor” campaign. Bro. Temi focused on major accomplishments and significant changes that were implemented after the council’s decision to let go of GK. He also unveiled a new and a more appealing ANCOP logo that reflects the oneness of CFC and ANCOP.
The highlight of the day was the “CFC-ANCOP Miracles” presentation by our Bro. Ricky Cuenca, President of CFC-ANCOP Foundation. Our very energetic and ever enthusiastic Brother kept the audience in awe as he highlighted the 8 miracles that God has given to our CFC community and to our work with the poor through ANCOP. Each instance was backed-up by significant developments that happened over a short period of time while CFC-ANCOP Foundation was just coming into existence. All the miracles were clear manifestations of God’s anointing; CFC was on the right track, that decisions and actions were guided by the Holy Spirit and that CFC will continue to remain strong in years to come. Bro. Ricky prophesied that these signs and miracles are just the beginning and that God will bless our community with so much more. At the end of his talk he said, “We should no longer doubt that we are in the right community.”

In the afternoon all leaders sat down to discuss, brainstorm and set their directions and plan of action for the coming year. The session ended with a call for a renewed commitment to CFCs mission of “Building the Church of the Home and Building the Church of the Poor”
